First Holy Communion

The Sacrament of Communion

In the celebration of the Eucharist, bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit and the instrumentality of the priest. The whole body, blood, soul, and divinity of Christ are present in the sacrament. A candidate, therefore, must prepare for this gift by prayer and catechesis so that he or she may receive the sacrament worthily.
